Dads Are Gems

This Father’s Day, we thought it would be fun to give you a little peek into the lives of our two leading Anderson men, Clark Anderson and Jason Blanchette. We asked Melissa Blanchette, Jason’s wife, to share a couple of her favorite “dad” stories…

The Anderson family likes fun surprises.

But when Jason invited his then girlfriend Melissa to join him on a visit to see his parents Clark and Sam Anderson in the Florida Keys, neither one was expecting anything unusual.

While they were all out exploring the area and shopping together, Sam saw a beautiful piece of jewelry she liked. She didn’t buy it, and the foursome continued shopping, and then went to lunch. They were sitting at the table when Clark presented Sam with a present: a small jewelry box. She opened it and it was the piece she had admired earlier. Surprise! Then Clark nudged Jason under the table. Jason looked at his stepdad, not sure what was happening. His expression changed and he turned to Melissa, putting a small jewelry box on the table in front of her. Melissa opened the box and saw two beautiful diamond stud earrings. She knew Jason, a college student, couldn’t afford the gift, and knew that Clark had wanted Jason to be able to surprise her as well. It was a sweet moment, a great “dad” lesson, and one of Melissa’s favorite stories of her father-in-law.

Another favorite story is what happens at Melissa’s house almost every morning.

She and Jason have three beautiful girls who are “obsessed with their father,” she says. Lexie (six), Cami (four), and Hayden (two), love Jason and are always excited to see him. Melissa says Jason will go out the front door to get the newspaper in the morning, and is gone for about thirty seconds, but when he returns, it’s like “the entrance of the king.” Needless to say, his girls are the jewels of Jason’s eye.
